Hysteroscopy

Hysteroscopy is a medical procedure used to examine and treat uterine issues. One end of the hysteroscope is equipped with illumination and a camera, allowing doctors to directly observe the condition of the uterine lining by entering the uterus through the vagina without the need for open surgery.
Applications
Hysteroscopy surgery is suitable for various diagnoses and treatments within the uterus, including:
- Diagnosis and treatment of endometriosis: Observing and removing ectopic endometrial tissue.
- Removal of endometrial polyps and fibroids: Hysteroscopy provides a method for removing small fibroids and polyps that cause bleeding or infertility.
- Evaluation of infertility and recurrent miscarriage: Examining uterine morphology or other factors that may affect fertility.
- Treatment of uterine malformations: Hysteroscopy can correct specific uterine malformations, such as uterine septum.
- Management of abnormal uterine bleeding: Determining the cause of bleeding and providing treatment.
- Removal of intrauterine devices (IUDs): If an IUD has shifted or cannot be removed by conventional methods, hysteroscopy can assist in removal.
Hysteroscopy surgery provides doctors with an effective tool for precise diagnosis and immediate treatment of various uterine conditions, greatly enhancing treatment efficiency.
Advantages of Hysteroscopy
Hysteroscopy examination, as a minimally invasive gynaecological surgical technique, has the following advantages:
- Precise diagnosis: Hysteroscopy helps doctors directly observe the condition of the endometrium and uterine cavity, providing more accurate diagnostic information than other non-direct examination methods. It is beneficial for diagnosing conditions such as endometriosis, endometrial polyps, uterine fibroids, and uterine malformations.
- Simultaneous treatment: During hysteroscopy examination, doctors can perform therapeutic procedures such as removal of endometrial polyps, retrieval of displaced intrauterine devices (IUDs), and treatment of endometriosis, avoiding the need for additional surgeries.
- Minimal trauma, quick recovery: Since hysteroscopy surgery is performed through the vagina without the need for abdominal incisions, the surgery causes minimal trauma and allows for speedy postoperative recovery, reducing patient pain and discomfort.
- Short hospital stay: Many hysteroscopy surgeries can be performed on an outpatient basis, without the need for hospitalization or requiring only short-term hospitalization, significantly saving patients' time and medical costs.
- Lower risk: Compared to traditional open abdominal surgery, hysteroscopy surgery carries relatively lower risks of infection and surgical complications.
